Order of the Arrow

The Order of the Arrow (OA) is its own thing beyond normal Troop activities. To get into it, you need to go through a top-secret ordeal. Fancy, eh? Be sure to go to the stuff the OA offers after the ordeal, too; Don't sash and dash!

To be in the OA (to even get to the ordeal), you have to:

  1. Be a Boy Scout,
  2. Have 15 nights of camping within 2 years of the election. That needs to include one (but no more than one) long-term camp consisting of at least five back-to-back nights of overnight camping, approved by the BSA. Only five nights of the long-term camp count, though; the other 10 nights have to be no more than three nights each,
  3. At the time of their election, kids must be under the age of 21, First Class or higher, and approved by their Scoutmaster, and then be elected by the kids in their troop,
  4. And adults (age 21 or older) who meet the camping requirements may be selected by the lodge adult selection committee.
